A Freeza Day in Hell is a holiday special of HFIL.
Tagline[]
It's the most explodiest time of the year. But Cell's unfamiliar with the local holiday! Follow him as he learns the true meaning... of Freeza Day.
Plot Summary[]
King Cold tells the story of a very special Freeza Day. Cell, unaware of what is happening asks what is so important about the day, and The Ginyu Force inform him through song, soon joined by Zarbon, Dodoria, and eventually Freeza himself.
An irritated Cell claims that he will not give Freeza a gift but is informed by Jeice and Burter that whomever gives Freeza the worst gift (or refuses to give him a gift at all) would have their house blown up. Raditz then informs Cell that the house they live in has been selected for destruction for the past three years in a row. Cell enlists Super Kami Guru's help.
While opening gifts, Freeza finds himself disappointed in everyone's gifts, claiming that this year, while he will still blow up Cell and Raditz's house, the Ginyu Force won't be rebuilding it. Freeza changes his mind, however, when Cell gifts him a set of Dragon Balls. Freeza decides instead to blow up Goz and Mez's house. However, when Freeza attempts to use the Dragon Balls to wish himself back to life, Cell informs him that these Dragon Balls don't actually work due to Moori taking over as Namek's Grand Elder, and reveals that these "Dragon Balls" are nothing more than Guru's kidney stones.
The residents of HFIL sing and King Cold finishes his story, with all the residents gathered around. Cell asks if King Cold wrote fanfiction about their deaths to which King Cold replies "I mean, isn't all of this?" Freeza asks if King Cold is having a stroke before King Cold exclaims "Happy Barfleblam!" and collapses.
Running Gags and Callbacks[]
- The plot focuses on Freeza Day.
- Cell replacing the word "Hell" with the word "here" when he asks "What the here's going on?"
- Freeza also does this when he refers to HFIL as a "forsaken herehole".
- Raditz pronounces Earth "Ee-arth", a callback to Bardock: Father of Goku and Battlefield Ee-arth.
- Recoome spells Freeza with an I. When Freeza tells him that there is no "I", Recoome refers to Freeza as "Lord Freza".
Cultural References[]
- Much of the story is reminiscent of Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol", with many references made to the story.
- Cell asking Guldo "You there, boy! The f**k is today?" is a paraphrasing of a line said by Ebenezer Scrooge towards the end of the book.
