Plot Summary[]
As part of his deal with Videl, Gohan agrees to train her in the art of flying. Before they start, Videl asks Gohan what his backstory is. Gohan says he is a farm boy with alien blood looking to make a difference. In contrast, Videl says that she is an agent of justice sworn to fight against the trash that took her mother away from her. However, Videl admits that she actually lost her mother to the "Big C", only making the dark backstory up as it does not strike fear into criminals. Gohan tries to relate to Videl as he lost his father to the "Big C" as well, but is a little surprised when she mentions that cancer was terrible. Gohan admits that he thought Videl's mother died at the hands of Cell, but when the latter mentions how everyone who died to the bio-android miraculously returned to life, Gohan solemnly said not everyone did. Afterwards, Videl asks Gohan what he meant by alien, and the latter quickly asks who wants to learn how to fly, which Goten quickly says yes to.

- The backstories Gohan and Videl give themselves a reference to both Superman and Batman: Gohan's backstory (a simple farm boy with alien blood who wants to do the right thing) follows close to Superman. Videl's backstory (a rich heiress who fights criminals) follows close to Batman.
