"Word of advice. You want out of here? Play nice, work off your time, and convince them your not a total piece of shit."

Hell, also known as HFIL or the Home for Infinite Losers, is a key location in the Other World. It is where all the villains go when they die.

Ways to Access Hell[]

The residents of hell are sent there by King Yemma, who reviews a mortal's life and sins after ordering them to strip naked. Those that are considered too powerful during Yemma's review are declared as a "code orange" and are ejected through a trapdoor in front of his desk, sending them straight to hell. Though some, like the Ginyu Force and Raditz, were able to slip past King Yemma. The Ginyus made it to King Kai's planet, while Raditz's whereabouts were unknown. In the end, all of them ended up in hell, as seen in Cell in a Hell. Goku once went to hell accidentally, after falling from Snake Way.

Ways to Leave Hell[]

The only way to leave hell is to be granted permission by its two wardens, Goz and Mez, who treat hell as more of a correctional facility than an eternal punishment. Freeza states that, if you convince them that you've reformed your evil ways, and you do your time, you will be allowed to leave. Alternatively, Goku just used the exit, though it is likely that the exit was only available to Goku because he wasn't judged and wasn't meant to be there.

Trivia[]

  • HFIL was an edit of the word Hell made in the Funimation dub, in order to censor any religious references.
