"Rule of Three" or simply "Super Saiyan 3" is the 18th episode of the Buu Bits.
Plot Summary[]
Goku shows Babidi and Majin Buu his Super Saiyan forms. He transforms into a regular Super Saiyan. Babidi then mocks the fact that he added the word "Super" at the beggining of it, thinking that it's lazy. He is quickly interrupted by Goku, who then transforms into a Super Duper Saiyan. Babidi doesn't see any difference between a regular Super Saiyan and a Super Duper Saiyan, but Goku explains that he now has little "Zappy Zaps". After that he states that the next transformation "IS TO GO EVEN FURTHER BEYOND", to which then he starts powering up. King Kai gets angry at the fact that Goku is wasting the time he's got left in the earth "whipping out his dick". Goku's power starts to break havoc on the city. Meanwhile on the lookout, Goten asks the crew if they can hear that, to which Piccolo answers he can feel that, to which then Krillin replies that he can taste that. Just then, Trunks stops in his way and wonders what "that smell" is. After some more powering up, Goku completes his transformation, which he calls a "Super Dee Duper Saiyan". Babidi then says he will just call his transformations "Super Saiyan 1, 2 and 3", much the disdain of Goku and Buu, as they both think those names are boring. Buu then asks if they can fight now, to which Goku responds affirmatively and starts to pummel Buu.
Running Gags and Callbacks[]
- Goku referring to Super Saiyan 2 and 3 as "Super Duper Saiyan" and "Super Dee Duper Saiyan" is a callback to Cell-Out Part 2, Super Duper Saiyan being the name Goku gave to Gohan's transformation, and Super Dee Duper Saiyan the name of the transformation Vegeta said he would achieve.
- Additionally, the name "Super Dee Duper Saiyan" references a catchphrase said by the titular purple dinosaur of the children's show Barney and Friends.
- The dialogue between Goten, Piccolo and Krillin (And also Trunks' bit) is a callback to It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Saiyan and Nail is Piccolo, and so can you!, when Gohan asks "Krillin can you hear/feel that!?" and Krillin answers "I feel/taste that!".
Cultural References[]
- Goku says "THIS IS TO GO EVEN FURTHER BEYOND" before transforming. This is the same line that Goku says in the original Dragon Ball Z's English Dub. This line is a popular meme nowadays.
