- This article is about the Trunks from the present timeline. For the Trunks who came from the future, see Future Trunks.
Trunks (also known as Kid Trunks) is the present son of Bulma and Vegeta. Influenced by his two parents, Trunks can be too stubborn, prideful, full of energy, arrogant, snobby, bratty, spoiled, and show rude behavior, however after the Buu arc while he remains similar he has progressed to be more of a person with spirit, strong-will, bravery, and be a more humble, respectful, and kind-hearted person, much like his future self.
Trunks is one year older than Goten and a year younger than his girlfriend Ranch.
Biography[]
Dragon Ball Z Abridged[]
Trunks, Bulma, and Yajirobe went to the site where the Dragon Team combated the androids. His young life was put in danger when Majin Bunny shot at the jet they boarded as a means of distracting his opposers while they escaped.
After being saved by his alternate timeline counterpart, Trunks was put into the arms of his mother who promised that he would get use to explosions since they occurred often around her. Bulma was relieved that she finally had someone to love and look out for. Soon,Trunks, Bulma and Yajirobe left the sight by flight, being held by Gohan who took them to Capsule Corporation.
Trunks was with his mother when she went to deliver the detonator for the androids to Krillin. Trunks noticed him as he flew to them, even calling out his name as his mother remained oblivious to Krillin before he slammed into her windshield. Krillin got owned for another time.
Trunks journeyed to Kami's Lookout with his mother, being played with by Gohan before his mother while holding him walked over to Future Trunks. When Bulma revealed that she had created armor for everyone to wear in their fights against Cell, Vegeta said that it was the greatest thing she had produced and Trunks interjected himself, being disappointed when his father said that it even trumped him.[1]
Buu Bits[]
The Buu Bits take place about 7 years after the end of the Cell Games, making Trunks eight years old. He first appears in “Long Distance Call”. After Gohan takes up the Great Saiyaman persona and he decides to enter into the up coming World Martial Arts Tournament, he goes back to Bulma asking if she can come up with a work around since he can’t use his helmet to cover his face. She then gives him a white doorag and black sun glasses. Pleased with the outcome, Gohan asks Trunks what he thinks, and Trunks says that if he gives his honest opinion his mother will punish him, and she agrees that she might.
The next time he’s seen is in “Turtle Turtle Wave” when he’s facing off against Goten in the final round of the Junior Division at the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament. The two of them clash before going to either edge of the ring. Trunks remarks to himself that he’s struggling to knock Goten out of bounds but he should’ve expected this from the son of “Kakarot”. Trunks launches his Double Buster attack at Goten who dodges it. From the audience, Gohan yells at Trunks to pull up his attack so it doesn’t hit the stands, and Trunks does so successfully. When Goten asks if they can use “pew pews”, Trunks says then can, and Goten powers up his Kamehameha wave, put mispronounces it and says “Kamekameha”. Trunks laughs and tries to tell Goten how to pronounce the attack name correctly and he easily doodles it when Goten fires it at him. Trunks is confused as to why the attack worked when Goten said it wrong, and he questions what the purpose of saying it at all was, and Gohan asserts that it’s because it sounds cool. In an alternate version of this scene when Trunks fires his Double Buster attack and Goten dodges, the attack hits the stands and destroys large portions of the stadium and the nearby city, causing Goku to remark that they should gather the dragon balls.
In “His Name Was Vegeta”, after Vegeta had succumbed to Babidi’s mind control, he had overcome it and he had made up his mind to sacrifice himself to kill Marin Buu, however, before he did this, Vegeta gave Trunks a hug then knocked him out. He then knocked out Goten before telling Piccolo to take them both away from the area before self destructing.
In “Super Saiyan 3”, when Goku was facing off against Majin Buu, powering up to Super Saiyan 3, Trunks, reacting to the sound of Goku powering up asks himself “What’s that smell?”
Now on The Lookout and after taught the fusion technique, in “Purple Hair and Pronouns” Trunks and Goten successfully fuse. When Videl asks what they should call him, the fusion initially struggles to figure out whether or not he wants to be called Trunkten or Gotenks, but he decides to go with Gotenks because it sounds better but recognizes that he owes himself later. When Videl, Krillin and Piccolo start question about Gotenks’ pronouns on whether they should call him, he/him, or they/them Gotenks says to refer to him as I’m/him because he was going to “bust up Buu”, and he flies off to find Majin Buu.
In “Who Ya Gonna Call?” Goten and Trunks are fused together as Gotenks, back on The Lookout in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber fighting Majin Buu, they decide to use the Super Ghost Kamikaze attack, but end up producing ghost Nappa. When asking Nappa how he ended up there, Nappa says that he was having a stroke in his trailer earlier and it didn’t end well. Gotenks offers his condolences, and Nappa says that it was his fault and he shouldn’t have made the extra notch in his belt. Then Gotenks says he doesn’t get it, Nappa says to ask Trunks’ dad, but Gotenks comments that Vegeta is dead until ghost Vegeta pops up, asking what he’s doing there much to Nappa’s delight.
In “Left Buuhind”, after being absorbed by Buu along with Goten and Piccolo, Trunks is asking if he’s and egg and also asking where he is.
In “A Super Reunion”, ten years after Buu’s defeat, Trunks is 18 and had just arrived at the Son Family home after his parents. When everyone is recounting the last ten years after Buu’s defeat, Trunks comments that he dyed his hair for a little bit.
